Dr. Amiya Kumar Sahu


Dr. Amiya Kumar Sahu, is the founder of National Solid Waste Association of India (NSWAI), established in 1996 in Mumbai. He is a Professor& Master of Solid Waste Management at De Tao Academy, Shanghai, China. He holds a PhD degree from USA in Environmental Sciences and M.E in Solid Waste Management from IHE (Delft), Netherlands. Dr. Amiya Kumar Sahu focuses on Consulting, Training, advisory services in the field of Solid Waste Management and its relation with all other environmental parameters like Global Warming and Climate Change. He started his own companies like Econ Consulting Services & Eco-Chem Waste Control (India) Pvt. Ltd.

Dr. Sahu is the Vice chairman in Asia Pacific Waste and Environment Alliance (APWEA). He joined numerous national and international organizations of Environment and Solid Waste Management like ISWA, CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), Bombay Chamber of Commerce, etc. He had performed more than 150 projects in India and neighborhood countries successfully. He pioneered the project of Industrial-Toxic and Hazardous Waste in Thane Belapur Industries. Dr. Sahu was working as Technical Team leader (World Bank) for the Sectoral Studies of Municipal Waste in Bangladesh. And was also consultant to Inter-agency (UNEP, IAEA, WHO) in air pollution projects. He was instrumental to draft MSW Rules, 2000 in India.
