Innovation, technology and policy will take the stage at WASTECON 2018, the Solid Waste Association of North America’s (SWANA) largest event helping solid waste leaders plan a sustainable future for their communities. From August 20-23 in Nashville, Tennessee. Join thought-leaders, environmental experts, and solid waste and recycling professionals from across North America for an overall unique conference experience where attendees will investigate “Sound Ideas” in waste management and address the most pressing issues facing the industry today.

Visionary keynote speakers will cover a range of compelling topics that will help professionals rethink their everyday workflow strategies and think big-picture about industry challenges. Hear from renowned solid waste leaders like Waste Connection’s CEO, Ron Mittelstaedt, on the future of the industry, or learn from new voices like Natalie Nixon, design strategist and author, who will address using intuition, pattern recognition, and improvisation for insights on creating order from chaos.

At SWANA’s Summer Training Center, join solid waste professionals from across the country for technical training in courses encompassing six different industry areas of practice. Gain even more hands-on experience during Nashville-area facility tours, where attendees will visit unique recycling, food recovery, and alternative energy venues.

The Materials Recovery Facility Summit (MRF), co-located at WASTECON, will feature an inaugural forum for recycling stakeholders to address challenges and opportunities in the wake of China’s waste import restrictions. From August 22-23, waste industry leaders, state and local government officials, and manufacturers will discuss best practices, policy alternatives, standardizing recycling metrics, and ISRI’s scrap specifications.
